Ujazd is an old settlement. In the 12th century it belonged to the Cistercian abbey, in the 15th to the illustrious Oleśnicki family and in 1619 it became the property of Krzysztof Ossoliński.
The castle in Ujazd was built in the 17th century and was one of the largest and finest magnate castles in Poland. It enjoyed its splendour for a short time.
The castle changed owners many times. The ‘Swedish deluge’ put an end to its power. Further destruction occurred as a result of Confederate battles.
